Benthams Fan Palm

Benthams Fan Palm typically grows to 5–8 metres in landscape conditions, with a slim, upright trunk and a full crown of fine-textured, fan-shaped fronds. The fronds have a soft, flowing appearance with slight droop, creating gentle movement in the wind. Its trunk is rough and naturally marked, retaining the bases of old fronds, which adds texture and authenticity to tropical or native-style gardens. As a native species, it blends beautifully into rainforest-inspired planting and is well-suited to subtropical and humid regions where it can thrive with minimal intervention.

This palm prefers full sun to part shade and thrives in well-drained, fertile soils with regular watering, particularly during the first year. It performs best in humid or sheltered positions, though it can tolerate a range of conditions once established. A yearly application of palm or native fertiliser will support healthy, even growth. Prune only old or spent fronds as needed to maintain a clean trunk. Benthams Fan Palm is a low-maintenance, reliable native palm suited to residential gardens, larger landscape projects, or as a backdrop in tropical designs.
